This is another piece of work for my first year at university. It was called the ‘identity project’ and it was based on us and our likes and interests. It was a project to introduce us to Photoshop, which I had never used before.
My moodboard focuses on the things I like, like my music and video games.
I have picked out styles, colours and motifs from my moodboard to inspire 8 designs that I really like; show my personality and I would wear in different situations, like everyday wear, work wear, evening wear and outfits I would wear to a gig or a metal club. I drew these design silhouettes by hand, scanned them in to my computer and filled them in on Photoshop.
My final design was a metal-boned corset and short, flared skirt. The outfit is feminine, but the femininity is challenged by the boots, the ‘metal’ theme and the attitude I have designed it with.
These are a few photos of my final garments. My outfit featured on the catwalk at Derby ’s end of year fashion show, as part of the 1st year collection. Because our class was quite big, only about half of us got to display our work on the catwalk, so I am quite proud that mine was picked as one of the best.
